Adebule Empowers 2,000 Lagos West Women With ₦200m Cash Support

At least 2,000 women across the Lagos West Senatorial District have benefited from a ₦200 million cash empowerment programme aimed at boosting their economic independence and contributing to socio economic development in the district.

The empowerment fund was provided jointly by the Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Idiat Adebule, and the party’s 2027 governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan.

Some of the beneficiaries received their cheques at the second edition of the Lagos West Women’s Assembly and Cash Empowerment Programme, tagged “From Voice to Action: Empowering Women for Impact,” held at the Blue Roof, Lagos Television (LTV), Agidingbi, Ikeja.

Addressing the gathering, Adebule said the empowerment initiative and other people oriented programmes were designed to appreciate her constituents for the confidence reposed in her.

She reaffirmed her commitment to the mandate of representing the people of Lagos West in the National Assembly through the sponsorship of quality legislation, effective oversight and empowerment initiatives.

The federal lawmaker disclosed that she had sponsored 12 bills and co sponsored six others aimed at promoting good governance, while also moving motions on issues of national importance, including the challenge of out of school children.

Describing the empowerment programme as life changing for the beneficiaries, Adebule commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for their continued support for her constituency.

Also speaking, the Apex Leader of the Lagos West Senatorial District, Prince Rabiu Oluwa, urged the women to demonstrate their political strength through their votes in the 2027 general elections.

The Lagos State Chairman of the party, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said Adebule had not disappointed the party through her representation of Lagos West in the National Assembly.

Ojelabi said Lagos West had more than 7,000 polling units out of over 13,000 polling units in Lagos State, describing the senatorial district as strategically important to the party’s electoral fortunes.

He urged party members to remain focused, noting that the 2027 election was only about five months away, while highlighting the infrastructural development being undertaken by the APC led administration across the country.

The guest lecturer and Convener of Women in Successful Careers, Payline Tallen, said women remained critical to nation building and urged them to create opportunities for others to thrive.

Tallen commended women for their contributions to society and praised the administration of President Tinubu for providing opportunities for women to participate meaningfully in governance and economic development.

She explained that the essence of the initiative was to promote economic independence among the beneficiaries, urging them to build on the support and transform it into sustainable sources of income.

The event also featured a raffle draw supervised by the Deputy Governorship Candidate in the state, Damilola Sonayan James, with some beneficiaries going home with tricycles and various household items.
