Ibeju-Lekki 2027: Late Abayomi Ayeola’s Daughter, Adeola, Seeks APC Backing, Says Give Women a Chance

Hon. Adesola Ayeola-Alawaye has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State and stakeholders in Ibeju-Lekki to support her aspiration for the Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adesola is the daughter of the late Hon. Abayomi Abdul-Kabir Ayeola, former leader of the Lagos State Caucus in the House of Representatives.

In her appeal to party leaders and constituents, Adesola emphasized the need for greater inclusion of women in governance, stressing that women possess the competence, capacity, and compassion required for effective representation.

Drawing inspiration from Oluremi Tinubu, former First Lady of Lagos State and a three-term Senator representing Lagos Central, she noted that when women are given opportunities, they deliver impactful leadership.

She described Senator Tinubu’s trajectory as a strong example of how female inclusion in governance contributes meaningfully to national development, adding that Nigeria would have been deprived of significant contributions in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly if such opportunities had not been extended.

She further stated that her aspiration is driven by a desire to contribute to legislative advancement and strengthen grassroots representation in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II.

To reinforce her position, she cited other prominent Nigerian women in public service who have distinguished themselves in leadership. These include Abike Dabiri-Erewa, recognized for enhancing Nigeria’s global engagement; Idiat Adebule, noted for her contributions to education and governance; Kafilat Ogbara, known for her advocacy for women’s rights and social development; and Funmi Tejuoso, whose legislative record continues to inspire.

According to her, these women demonstrate that leadership is defined not by gender but by vision, dedication, and measurable impact.

She urged political leaders and stakeholders in Ibeju-Lekki Constituency II to embrace this progressive reality by supporting qualified female leadership.
