Hajj 2023: NAHCON commends Lagos State for providing best accommodation

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has been commended for providing the best accommodation for her pilgrims during the 2023 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This was contained in a letter personally signed by the Acting Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) Mal. Jalal Ahmad Arabi, OON, fwc and addressed to the Secretary, Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr. Saheed Onipede.

The letter dated December 4, 2023 reads, “I have the pleasure on behalf of the staff and management of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to commend your Board’s outstanding performance during the 2023 Hajj operation”.

Expressing his satisfaction with the State’s performance, Mal. Arabi said, “I am pleased to convey that your Board has come first (1st) as the State with the best Accommodation (Ajyad zone) among other States of the Federation in your zone”.

While cingratulating the State for the accomplishment, he urged the Board not to only sustain the momentum but work hard at surpassing the achievement in subsequent operations, especially the fast approaching 2024 exercise.

In his reaction, the Board Secretary, Mr. Saheed Onipede expressed his delight and gratitude to Almighty Allah for the feet. He also thanked the Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for their support, noting that the support received from the administration has greatly helped in the Board’s several accomplishments.

While appreciating the NAHCON CEO and his management team for finding the State worthy of the commendation, Onipede said that he was not surprised at all, stressing that the state had been known for excellence in Hajj operations over the years. He added that the latest commendation had only come to give credence to the ability and capability of the Board in providing quality service delivery to her pilgrims.

As the 2024 operation approaches, Onipede promised that the Board would leave no stone unturned in fulfilling its avowed commitment at providing the pilgrims with a conducive atmosphere for achieving a spiritually rewarding pilgrimage in the holy Land.
