MSSN NIJ Ogba Chapter Holds Handing Over, Award Ceremony, Tasks New Leaders on Service

The outgoing Amir of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Ogba Chapter, Yusuf Sodiq Olajide, has charged the newly elected executives of the society to lead with sincerity, humility, justice and the fear of Allah.

Olajide gave the charge at the chapter’s Handing Over and Award Day Ceremony, where he described leadership as an amanah, or trust from Allah, stressing that leadership should be regarded as a responsibility to serve rather than an opportunity for personal recognition.

He urged the incoming executives to work collectively, respect one another, listen to members and always place the interests and progress of the society above personal interests.

According to him, the ceremony was not merely a change of leadership but a celebration of service, dedication, achievement and continuity, as well as an opportunity to appreciate individuals who had contributed to the growth of the chapter.

While commending the outgoing executives for their sacrifices and commitment, Olajide said their contributions had helped move the chapter forward, noting that even efforts that were not publicly acknowledged would be rewarded by Allah.

He also congratulated the award recipients, describing their recognition as both a reward for their accomplishments and an encouragement to do more.

Olajide appreciated the parents, mentors, lecturers, staff members, alumni, sponsors, supporters and well wishers of the society for their continued support, saying their contributions had played an important role in the chapter’s development.

He called for unity and collective responsibility among members, urging them to build a chapter where members feel valued, knowledge is encouraged, Islamic brotherhood and sisterhood flourish, and excellence is pursued in both religious and academic endeavours.

The outgoing Amir expressed optimism that the handing over would mark the beginning of another successful chapter in the history of MSSN NIJ Ogba, while praying for Allah’s guidance and blessings upon the new leadership, outgoing executives and award recipients.

The newly constituted executive council is led by Saheed Toba Kamaldeen as Amir, while Issa Sharmsiya serves as Ameerah and Iroko Aishat as Naib’l Ameerah.

Other members of the new executive council are Junaid Zainab, Secretary; Abeeb Phaizat, Assistant Secretary; Yekini Khayrah Olamide, Treasurer; Adigun Faheedat, Assistant Treasurer; Saheed Boluwatife, Welfare Officer; Adeigbe Mutiat, Assistant Welfare 1; and Bello Mutiat, Assistant Welfare 2.
