Surulere APC Reps Primary Marred by Irregularities as Election Fails to Hold Across Six Wards

It was a massive turnout of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) across the six wards of Surulere Federal Constituency II during the primary election; however, the exercise failed to hold and was reportedly marred by a high level of irregularities.

TheNewsNow Online gathered that the six wards where the primary election was expected to hold include Orile, Coker, Aguda, Itire, Ijesha and Ikate.

A statement earlier released by the leadership of the party in the constituency urged all supporters and party members to come out with their membership cards and arrive early at their respective voting centres.

However, to the surprise of hundreds of members of the party who thronged the various voting centres as early as 9 a.m., there were no electoral officials in sight, nor were voting materials delivered by the party.

Some of the members, who expressed displeasure with the development, warned against any attempt to impose candidates on the party.

They called on the leadership of the party in the state to conduct a thorough investigation into the failure of the primary election to hold and to announce a new date for the exercise.

The two-horse race in Surulere Federal Constituency II is between the incumbent member, Hon. Lanre Okunlola, and Hon. Aremu Olalekan Abdulateef.
