RAMOTALAI AKINLOLA-HASSAN HOSTS NEW YEAR THANKSGIVING, ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF CASH PALLIATIVE FOR STAFF
The Executive Chairman of Oriade Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria,Hon Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan has approved the continuation of monthly payment of fuel subsidy cash palliative to all categories of staff beyond January,2024.
The council chairman gave the approval,on Monday,8th January,2024, at the council secretariat, during the New Year thanksgiving service,held inside the council’s hall.
As soon as Hon Akinlola-Hassan made the announcement for continuation of payment of the monthly cash palliative, all members of staff inside the council hall went into jubilation, dancing and singing praises of the chairman.
The monthly payment, which started in August 2023, is supposed to stop at the end of January,2024, where, members of management staff receive 25,000 naira each, and other categories of staff receive 10,000 each,on a monthly basis.
The council chairman’s decision to extend the payment was informed by the appeal made by the council treasurer,Babatunde Olugbuyi at the occasion, while leading christian prayer session.
It would be recalled that following the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government,Hon Akinlola-Hassan commenced monthly payment of cash palliative to all workers in Oriade council,in August 2023,as a measure to cushion the effect of the removal.In addition to the monthly cash palliative payment, the council chairman also procured a coaster bus for the staff living in Badagry axis, with the promise that another staff bus will be procured in the first quarter of 2024 for staff living in Igando,Egbeda,Ipaja areas of the state .
The council chairman,at the thanksgiving service, informed the staff that it is important for the entire workforce of the council, including the political class, to give praises to God for seeing them through 2023,in good health and happiness, and also allowing them to witness the new year, 2024.
Hon Akinlola-Hassan reminded them that many people have passed away in 2023 and even in the beginning of 2024,and for this reason, they are duty bound to appreciate God for his protection over them.
She also appealed to the staff, particularly staff who are saddled with collection of council’s levies and rates from the public, to be dutiful and avoid diverting council’s money into their private pockets.
The council chairman conducted the traditional prayer session, where she prayed for all the staff and the political appointees to witness tremendous success in all their endeavors in 2024.
The council treasurer, Babatunde Olugbuyi and James Reuben led the christian prayer session, while Odunaiya Hakeem and Ambaliu Ibrahim led the muslim prayer.The prayers were laced with singing of praise songs by all the staff,to God for his blessings, mercy and protection over them in 2023, while asking him to repeat same for them in the new year.
All members of staff in attendance at the occasion expressed their profound appreciation to the council chairman for her generosity and magnanimity towards their welfare and prayed to God to reward her abundantly.
The occasion was well attended by the staff, including all members of the Executive Committee and Management Team.
