Ajijolaiya Urges Nigerians to Celebrate Academic Excellence, Integrity Over Wealth and Social Media Fame

…As At-Tanzeel Schools Holds 7th Valedictory and Haflah Programme

The President of Charleans in Diaspora Inc., Alhaji Ghazali Yemi Ajijolaiya, has advocated a shift from celebrating ill gotten wealth, public office and huge social media followings to promoting academic excellence, good morals, honesty and the fear of God in the country.

He also urged society to shun the get rich quick syndrome and instead believe strongly in hard work, honesty and genuine collaboration in achieving set goals and aspirations.

Ajijolaiya gave the advice while speaking as Chairman at the 7th Valedictory and Haflah Programme of At Tanzeel Schools, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

He said certificates acquired by the graduands would open doors for them in the future, adding that good morals would determine how long they would retain their jobs, while Allah values those who are righteous.

In his speech, titled “Beyond Graduation, What Next?”, Ajijolaiya advised the graduands to put Allah first and be guided by the Holy Quran and good character in their service to humanity. He also charged parents to continue to monitor their children’s progress and advancement in life.

On his part, the Chairman, Board of Directors, At Tanzeel Schools, Mr. Saheed Bashir, disclosed that the graduating class, known as The Imperials, was among the best ever produced by the school.

According to him, the school derives its name from the Holy Quran and has grown from its humble beginning with nine students in 2010 to a large and steadily growing student population.

He urged the graduating students to key into the Nasir Giwa Mentorship Programme, adding that the school had introduced new weekend programmes during the outgoing session to improve students’ memorisation of the Quran.

Bashir, who expressed excitement over the students’ performance in the recently conducted UTME, said 37 candidates from the school sat for the examination, with a class average of 250 and above and a top score of 313. He added that the school was working towards raising the average score to 270 in the future.

In the first lecture delivered at the event, titled “Excellence Without Compromise: Aspiring to Greatness While Standing Firm,” Mrs. Ganiyah Afariogun stressed the need for government to accord the necessary priority to education as a means of promoting growth and development in the country.

She advised the graduands not to be deterred or frustrated by the various challenges they might encounter, but to remain determined to excel by relying on the knowledge and values they acquired from the school.

Also speaking, the Head of School, Imam Abdulhakeem Bolaji Isioye, described the event as the closing of one chapter and the opening of another, noting that it was historic for the graduands’ career progression as future leaders.

He pointed out that all the graduands had memorised either portions of or the entire Holy Quran, which, he said, made them stand out among the best in the world.

Isioye also advised parents to avoid raising entitled children and urged them to make the noble Prophet Muhammad their children’s role model.

The At Tanzeel Schools, located in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, won several local and international laurels this year through competitions in which both male and female students participated.

The theme of the 7th Valedictory and Haflah Programme was “Preparing for Success: Character Before Career.”
