Lagos LG Polls: LASIEC Confirms July 12 Election Date

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially announced Saturday, July 12, 2025, as the date for the much-anticipated local government elections across the state.

According to a public notice issued by LASIEC and signed by its Chairman, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), the election will cover all 20 constitutionally recognized Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) of Lagos State.

The poll will also include elections for councillors across the 376 electoral wards in the state.

As stipulated in the notice, polling activities will commence by 8:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. on election day. Voters are expected to cast their ballots only at the polling units where they are registered.

LASIEC emphasized that only individuals whose names appear in the official Voters Register will be allowed to participate in the election.
