APC Stakeholders Seek Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s Support to End Ebute Metta West Marginalisation
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yaba, Ebute Metta West and Ebute Metta East have appealed to Senator Oluremi Tinubu to support efforts aimed at ending what they described as the prolonged political marginalisation of Ebute Metta West by backing the aspiration of Prince Hon. Abdulakeem Omolaja Animashahun for the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency seat.
The appeal formed a major highlight of the official flag-off of Animashahun’s campaign, which drew party leaders, community stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers and supporters from across the constituency.
According to the stakeholders, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who previously represented Lagos Central Senatorial District, understands the political structure and history of the constituency and is well-positioned to support fairness, inclusiveness and equitable representation in Lagos Mainland politics.
They alleged that Ebute Metta West has faced political marginalisation for about 27 years and stressed the need for the APC leadership to embrace zoning and justice in the interest of unity and balance within the constituency.
The stakeholders also reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration, pledging continued loyalty to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the gathering, Dr. Segun Oshile traced his family’s political roots in Yaba and Lagos Mainland, recalling the contributions of his grandfather, the late J.B. Oshile, to politics in the area.
He noted that his political journey through the old Action Group and the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) shaped his belief in supporting grassroots-oriented leaders with strong community ties.
Oshile described Animashahun as a humble and visionary politician with the capacity to provide responsive and quality representation for the people of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.
Other speakers at the event stressed the importance of electing competent representatives with practical understanding of community needs, noting that Animashahun’s background as a lawyer and grassroots politician gives him an advantage.
Mr. Anthony Clever said the constituency would benefit from a representative with legal expertise and strong grassroots connection, while Hon. John Obalade and Mr. Femu Olayide highlighted the need to strengthen local government administration and social welfare initiatives across the constituency.
They maintained that effective representation at the National Assembly would complement developmental efforts already ongoing within the communities.
The stakeholders further urged APC members and delegates to participate actively in the party’s primary election scheduled for May 15, while calling for unity and overwhelming support for Animashahun’s aspiration.
Addressing supporters, Prince Hon. Abdulakeem Omolaja Animashahun thanked party faithful and residents for their confidence in his leadership, saying his ambition is driven by a commitment to serve the people through inclusive and people-focused representation.
He said his agenda would prioritise youth empowerment, skills acquisition, women inclusion and economic opportunities capable of improving the socio-economic wellbeing of residents across the constituency.
Animashahun assured constituents that, if elected, he would pursue policies and programmes that directly address grassroots concerns while ensuring regular engagement with the people.
