Ileya support initiative aimed at easing the festive burden on residents and key stakeholders across the council area.

The intervention, carried out under the “Ileya Splash” programme, saw the distribution of cows, rams, bags of rice, and cash gifts to various groups within Ikeja Local Government.

The initiative, according to Naijanewsdirect, reflects the values of love, compassion, unity, and communal support associated with the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, while also underscoring the chairman’s continued commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the people.

As part of the distribution exercise, support packages were extended to party leaders, Local Government Executives, Ward Chairmen and their executives, traditional leaders including Chiefs and Baales, the Chief Imam of Ikeja, all 15 Central Mosques within the council area, political office holders, as well as members of staff and management of Ikeja Local Government.

The distribution package included 20 cows, more than 300 rams, 300 bags of rice, and cash gifts shared among residents and critical stakeholders across the local government area.

In addition, each ward in Ikeja received five bags of rice, one cow, and cash support of ₦1 million, while Local Government Executives were also allocated 10 bags of rice and one cow each.

Speaking on the initiative, Comrade Dauda stated that the programme was designed to support Muslim faithful during the Ileya celebration and reduce the economic pressure often associated with the festive period.

He also noted that the gesture was a way of appreciating party faithful, community stakeholders, and loyal supporters for their unwavering commitment to the progress, peace, and development of Ikeja Local Government.

According to the chairman, people-oriented governance must prioritize the welfare of citizens, particularly during important religious celebrations that symbolize sacrifice, unity, peace, and shared humanity.

Beneficiaries and community stakeholders commended the council boss for what they described as his consistent generosity, responsive leadership, and grassroots-oriented style of governance, noting that the intervention would go a long way in supporting families during the festive season.

Observers also described the Ileya Splash programme as another demonstration of AKOD’s commitment to inclusive governance, grassroots empowerment, and community-driven leadership in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
