Oluremi Tinubu Commissions 30-Bed PHC in Obalende, Urges Stronger Collaboration for Grassroots Healthcare
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called for improved collaboration among all tiers of government towards provision of quality and efficient health care delivery to the people at the grassroots.
She also acknowledged that the financial autonomy for Local Government Area granted by the President has encouraged more peoples oriented projects and fast track socio-economic development at the grassroots.
The First Lady who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima made this call at the commissioning of the 30- bed space Senator Oluremi Tinubu Primary Health Care Centre, Ijeh Road, Obalende constructed by Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.
Oluremi Tinubu who expressed delight at the commissioning of the project recalled the Primary Health centre in 2019 do not meet the expected standard but pleased to witness the transformation in line with the renewed agenda of President Tinubu.
According to her, the country will achieve her full potentials and progress when necessary attention is given to the healthcare needs of the citizens.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu applauded what he described as the
transformative projects in communities across the metropolis.
The Governor who was represented by his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu explained that the success story of today was due to the financial freedom given to local government in the state.
He believes that the construction of health care centres gave credence to putting the people first in all we do in the country and commended the Chairman for increasing the salaries of doctors working in their centres to #800,000 monthly.
Governor Sanwo-Olu added that the ruling All Progressives Congress demonstrated visionary leadership all around to building a Lagos that works for everyone.
On his part, the former Deputy Governor of the state, Otunba Femi Pedro described the improved performance by some council chairmen as the
manifestation of good work of the Governor while encouraging other council chairmen to emulate the sterling performance by FuadAtanda-Lawal.
He told the gathering that he was happy that the Chairman listened to advise from him towards building a befitting edifice as Primary Health Centre.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire said that Ikoyi as the heart of Lagos deserve beautiful structures like the primary health care centre.
According to her, it was a thing of joy that the centre speaks to goal 3 of the SDG assuring that the people around Obalende now have something to be happy about.
Orelope noted that the Chairman is leaving office on good record of serving the people of the area and urged beneficiaries to make good use of the project.
Earlier, the council Chairman, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal who came into office in 2017 said that his eight years administration delivered projects that touched the lives of residents in all sectors.
He was of the view that PHCC reflects what is possible when there is political will on the part of the leadership who also enjoys maximum support and cooperation of his people.
The council boss noted that the PHCC goes beyond medical facility but pillar of asset and equity for all residents of Ikoyi-Obalende and environs adding that it was made possible by the bold economic policy of President Tinubu with removal of fuel subsidy and increased revenue to local governments in the country.
He thanked the SSA SDG to the President for the unwavering equipment support to the facility in the delivery of the project and thanked residents for holding him accountable during his tenure.
Dr Monsurat Adeyemi who spoke on behalf of
Health District 3 noted that the centre was a testimony
of full succes story adding residents cannot forget the swift response by the council during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
She promised on behalf of the District, the provision of uniforms for the medical personnel in the hospital built within 4 months while appealing to thet Federal Government and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu to consider building accommodation for the staff.
