Police Family Welfare: POWA President Empowers 300 Police Widows, Commission Projects In Kano

No fewer than 300 Police Widows in Kano State benefited from the empowerment program organized by the President of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), (Dr.) Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun.
The wife of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mrs Egbetokun also commissioned POWA Kano State Chapter Secretariat equipped with skills acquisition materials, a Borehole as well as a Hospital at No. 52 Squadron, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Challawa Kano, built by a prominent philanthropist, Chairman Tiamin Rice Mill, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad.
According to her, the empowerment program is part of POWA’s ongoing commitment to provide assistance and resources to the families of police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“The program provided essential materials and financial support aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of these widows, offering them a chance to gain independence and stability in their lives”, she added.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Kano Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the POWA President emphasized the importance of community support for the families of fallen heroes and the need to ensure that their sacrifices are recognized and honored through meaningful action.
“She also acknowledged and appreciated all sponsors, supporters and well-wishers and prayed to Almighty God to continue to bless and reward all for making this day reality” the statement added.
In her welcome address, the Chairperson of Kano State Chapter of POWA, Hajia Fati Dogo expressed pride in being part of an organization that prioritizes the needs of its members and their families.
She also extended gratitude to the National President of POWA, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba for their support towards making this event a reality.
The chairperson encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the empowerment program, urging them to be strong, resilient, and determined.
Mrs Egbetokun also paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba and homage to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who appreciated her visit and commended the Police for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the State.
The Governor pledged to continue providing maximum support to the Police in their quest to protect lives and property, while the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, expressed his delight for receiving the POWA President and commended her unwavering commitment and compassion towards the welfare of the families of police officers.
