Over 2,000 residents of Itire-Ikate LCDA and its environs have benefitted from the free medical exercise organised by the Ahmed Apatira-led administration.
While commending the Itire-Ikate LCDA for the two-day free medical mission held at the council secretariat, some of the beneficiaries called for the regular organisation of such exercises.
The free medical programme addressed both communicable and non-communicable diseases, offering services such as dental care, blood pressure and sugar level checks, hypertension management, health education, eye screening, and treatment.
The atmosphere at the council secretariat was one of joy and excitement as beneficiaries of all ages, ethnicities, and religions took their turns with the medical team, expressing gratitude after their sessions.
Some beneficiaries, including Alhaja Muinat Akande, Olawale Bakare, and Esther Williams, showered praises on Chairman Ahmed Apatira for initiating a programme that directly impacts the lives of residents.
They remarked on the challenges of visiting hospitals, let alone affording tests and medications, due to the prevailing economic hardships, and expressed their happiness at receiving these services free of charge.
Speaking with newsmen, the council’s Vice Chairman, Yetunde Jimba, explained that the free medical exercise was organised in response to the needs of the community.
She also assured residents of the council’s commitment to sustaining people-oriented programmes in line with its electoral promises to improve their well-being.
