The event, code-named “Rapid Response 1,” was organized by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Police and included participation from the military, para-military forces, and other emergency service organizations.

Held at the Idu Train Station, the simulation focused on testing coordination, readiness, and the ability to handle high-pressure, realistic scenarios.

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, who observed the exercise, praised the strong team spirit among the organizations involved, emphasizing that it played a crucial role in the timely response to the simulated crisis.

She urged participants to build on the successes of the exercise and address any identified gaps to improve efficiency and service delivery.

As the lead agency for mass casualty and public health emergency coordination, NEMA played a central role in the simulation, reinforcing the importance of effective coordination and readiness in addressing national security threats.

NEMA had conducted training on mass casualty and public health emergency for agencies under the cluster as well as held a preparatory simulation ahead of today’s exercise.
