Teachers’ Day: Vetland Parents Forum thanks Lagos government over empowerment, lauds teachers
The Parents’ Forum of the Vetland Junior Grammar School, Ifako-Ijaye, has thanked Lagos State government over its support in developing teachers working in the State owned schools.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer, Mukaila Tajudeen Akolade, on Saturday.
The Parents’ message was sent in marking this year’s International Teachers’ Day, which holds today, Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The statement acknowledged and thanked the State government for helping teachers out, both personally and professionally, applauding the efforts to improve teachers’ working conditions and incomes.
It however encouraged the State to initiate more capacity building programmes that will empower teachers, so as to deliver efficiently.
Following this, the Parents’ Forum urged all stakeholders to continue their support for teachers, acknowledging that their contributions are essential to the future of “our children and society as a whole”.
Similarly, the Parents lauded the school’s Principal, Adeola Latunde-Dada, for her exceptional administrative skills; citing that under her leadership, Vetland Junior Grammar School has become a haven for students who strive for intellectual and ethical greatness.
The statement reads: “The school has maintained its status as an exemplar of high-quality education under her capable leadership, that of the Vice Principal, and the rest of the management team.
“We are really impressed by their dedication to upholding high standards, efficiently managing resources, and making sure that the wellbeing of both students and staff is their number one priority.
“We deeply appreciate the unfaltering commitment of our beloved teachers to educating our children and fostering their moral development. The success of our children is built upon your enthusiasm, perseverance, and dedication to greatness. You are the rock upon which our children’s futures are built, and for that we will always be grateful”.
The Parents’ Forum expressed deepest gratitude over the commitment of the teachers and management of the school for all they are doing in guiding the academic journeys of the students.
Teachers’ Day is celebrated globally, every October 5, annually.
Meanwhile, the Forum has elected new executives that will lead the body for the next 24 months.
The new leaders include: Tajudeen Balogun, (Chairman); Wale Alimi, (Vice Chairman 1); Gboyega Agunbiade, (Vice Chairman 2); Femi Agbonyin, (General Secretary); Taibat Adeyemi, (Assistant General Secretary).
Other new officers are: Mukaila Tajudeen Akolade, (Public Relations Officer); Tolulope Adebowale, (PRO II); Rashida Seriki, (Financial Secretary); Damilola Daramola, (Treasurer); Oludare Alabi, (Assistant Treasurer) and Bolanle Adeyemi-Egburedi, (Ex-Officio).
