Inner Wheel Nigeria reiterates commitment to service of humanity, seeks support from government, spirited Nigerians
A Non-governmental organisation, the Inner Wheel Nigeria has reiterated her commitment to providing succour to the less privileged in the society towards improving their well being.
It however said that it has the capacity to reach out to more people in need if it receives necessary support from government, wealthy and spirited Nigerians.
The District Chairman 911, Magdalene Adegoke disclosed this during the Annual General Meeting of the Inner Wheel Nigeria held at Hall 36 within the premises of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi-Araba.
She expressed her joy as the Chairman of the District that comprises other 18 clubs both in Lagos and Ogun state at a time they are marking the Centenary Anniversary of the Inner Wheel Nigeria.
Magdalene Adegoke said the group rely solely on funds raised among themselves especially during installation of the new executive adding however that they are open to support from all quarters.
The DC further said that they are involved in all charitable acts including empowerment of Widows, orphans, medical interventions, training and payment of School Fees to make life worthy for the people.
Speaking further, DC Adegoke noted that they have trained over thirty people in different vocational trade like Hairdressing, Make Up, Computer Development and also empowered them with the necessary tools in order to become self reliant.
According to her, aside the lack of finance to carry out their activities, dwindling membership is another major challenge due to wrong impression that the club is for the rich.
She said though that they have a link to the Rotary Club but that they are now open to people not affiliated to the Rotary.
Also speaking, the incoming Chairman for the District, Mrs Nike Sodipo disclosed that her priority will be on improving the health care needs of the people.
According to her, the body under her watch will partner with Rotary to conduct free eye screening and surgical exercises for the vulnerable including the elderly.
Sodipo who steps in as Chairman on July first also disclosed that they plan to train young girls to catch them young in the selfless service to humanity.
Earlier in her welcome address, a member of the organising committee of the Annual General Meeting, Tiitilayo Salo said they look forward to touching more lives positively.
She also said that they intend to move the body forward in the best interest of the needy.
