Fmr CBN Gov Lamido Sanusi expresses confidence in elevation of Justice Abiru to the Supreme Court

Former CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has expressed confidence in the elevation of Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

He decribed the position of Judges as dangerous, sensitive but said that Justice Abiru is an embodiment of equity, fairness, accountability and transparency.

The former CBN Governor stated these at the Special Prayer organised by the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness, MICA in honour of Hon. Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru on his elevation to the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Citing verses of the Holy Quran, the former Emir of Kano warned Justice Abiru to be wary of sweet quoted Senior Advocate of Nigeria and lawyers who will appear before him to compromise the course of justice in favour of their Clients.

He said that Nigerians only have the right to vote during elections in the country but that Politicians know how they buy their way in through corrupt Judges that are ready to compromise for worldly rewards.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi cited when a high profile case was brought before Justice Abiru in Lagos but because he was not going to compromise, he was promoted twice by the National Jucidial Council to the Court of Appeal

According to him, Nigerians are quick to blame Judges for being corrupt but failed to also blame those who run after them to compromise the dispensation of justice.

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi strongly believe that our society will be just and equitable for all if the course of justice is not biased but dispensed according to the law.

In his response, Justice Habeeb Abiru said that he was filled with joy with the attendance of the former CBN Governor and other prominent lawyers.

He asked for continued prayer to succeed in the onerous task at the apex court.

Justice Abiru also noted that he is a proud Nigerian and believe things will get better soon in the country.
