President Tinubu renews call for religious harmony as Nigeria joins the world to mark Eid-el-Fitri celebrations
President Bola Tinubu has renewed call for religious harmony among Nigerians as the country joins the rest of the world to mark the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
He also said that the people must show empathy as Muslims to everyone around them irrespective of their beliefs.
The President gave this charge at the end of the two rakat Eid-el-Fitri prayers held at the Doddan Barracks praying ground in Ikoyi area of the state.
His message was delivered by the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Hamzat.
The President thanked Allah for sparing his lives to witness the Ramadhan fast and wished Nigerians well.
He urged Muslims to continue the good deeds exhibited during the Ramadhan fast beyond the Holy month.
In his sermon, the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sulaymon Abu Nolla implored Nigerians to have faith in the nation.
According to him, the current economic challenges is not perculiar to the country alone adding nationsl around the world are faced with different crisis.
The Chief Imam noted that those who observed the Ramadhan fast as expected would be rewarded fully by Allah.
He explained that fasting is made compulsory on Muslims by Allah to make them attain piety, generosity and self restraint.
Imam Nolla noted the month of Ramadhan is of blessings and sober reflection for the entire world and not Muslims alone.
According to him, Zakatul Fitri is mandatory to cleanse the shortcomings during the Ramadhan fast and for the poor to also enjoy the spirit of the celebrations.
Some of the dignitaries present at Eid ground include the Baba Adinni of Lagos state, Alhaji Sikiru Alabi Macfoy, the Minister of Blue Economy, Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, his Environment counterpart, former Minister for Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, the Private Secretary to the President, Hakeem Muri-Okunola and the White cap Chiefs.
