4th Edition of Olamilekan Mabinuori Football Competition Kicks Off as RCCG Defeats Vintage FC in the Opener
The Olamilekan Mabinuori Football competition has kicked off, with RCCG Club defeating Vintage FC in one of the matches played today.
Oluwatosin opened the scoring in the 18th minute, while Dayo made it two at 22 minutes into the game. The consolation came the way of Vintage through Yinka five minutes later.
In other matches, Ivory Coast suffered a two-one defeat to Nigeria, while the match between Tunisia and Gbadun Squad ended one goal apiece.
The competition, which is in its 4th Edition, is being held at a Secondary School in the Ilupeju area of the state.
The organizer of the Football Competition, Mr. Olamilekan Mabinuori, said the idea was to discover young talents and nurture them to realize their chosen career.
He also disclosed that the competition had become an avenue to foster unity among the youths in the area, irrespective of their ethnic or religious bias.
Olamilekan Mabinuori promised not only to sustain the Football Competition but to make it bigger during subsequent editions.
The Principal of Ilupeju Secondary School, the host venue, Mr. Olushola Masheyi, explained that they opened their gate for the competition since it is capable of preventing the youths from engaging in social vices.
He said that he was impressed by the level of officiating and skills displayed by various teams in the competition.
According to him, everyone must join hands with the government in building a better society.
