Joshua wins Wallin with impressive fifth round knockout
Anthony Joshua made a huge stride to win back his world heavyweight titles after a dominant win over Otto Wallin.
AJ knocked out Swede Wallin in Saudi Arabia with the expectation that Deontay Wilder would be the next opponent.
However, AJ’s former rival Joseph Parker scuppered these plans, as he out-boxed Wilder and beat him by unanimous decision.
Joshua for his part impressed as he dominated Wallin inside five rounds before his corner pulled him out of the context.
Joshua had put his career – and a fight with Deontay Wilder on the line when he took on Otto Wallin on the “Day of Reckoning” in Saudi Arabia.
The two-time world champion won his third fight of 2023 after already gaining victories over Jermaine Franklin Jr and Robert Helenius as he planned
to step back to the top of the heavyweight division.
Joshua has three career defeats to date, Andy Ruiz Jr inflicted his first loss in 2019 before Oleksandr Usyk beat him on two occasions.
But while another loss could be curtains for his career, a win was expected to set him up for a clash with American Deontay Wilder.
However, the American could not beat Joseph Parker in a bout that also happened on Saturday.
Joshua now holds an impressive record of 27 victories and three losses, with 24 knockout wins.
