Lagos NUJ holds Christmas Carol in grand style as leadership says discussion ongoing to retrieve money from Contractor of failed Pen Jewel Project
The Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has expressed appreciation for the show of support and understanding from members of the different chapels in the outgoing year 2023.
The Chairman of the union, Mr Leye Ajayi expressed this appreciation during the 2023 Christmas Carol held at the NUJ House in Iyalla area of Alausa.
He said the leadership will never take the support from members for granted adding it is only when they are united that they can achieve desired goals and objectives.
The NUJ Chairman thanked members who attended the event despite the busy schedule associated with the job.
There were Live rendition of popular Christmas songs from the Choir led by Debborah Ochaba which gave some members opportunity to dance and thank the Lord for His mercy throughout the year 2023.
The Theme of the Christmas Carol is : “Worship The New Born King”
During the earlier session to mark the December Congress of the union, Mr Ajayi assured members that the final allocation of Abaren Land to subscribers would hold in January next year.
According to him, all encumbrance that were hindering the exercise including late rains had been put to rest adding the leadership will soon announce a specific date in due course for the final allocation of lands.
He also encouraged subscribers who have received allocation in the past to move to site while urging those with fresh allocation to take full pocession of the land as soon as it was handed over to them.
The NUJ leadership promised to continue follow up on the Letters written to the Ogun State Governor. Prince Dapo Abiodun soliciting support for construction of access roads to the site of the project.
Mr Ajayi hinted that discussions are still ongoing with the Contractor of the failed NUJ Pen Jewel Project to retrieve some money from him for members who subscribed to the project.
He charged members of the different committees to see their assignments as crucial towards the larger benefit of the union
On the NUJ Guest House in Shomolu area of the state, the Chairman disclosed that work is nearing the final phase promising a reasonable discount for members to patronise the place.
