New Oloto of Otto, Oba Bashir Odesanya optimistic of Govt attention to fast track growth of the area

The new Oloto of Otto and Mainland Kingdom, Oba Bashir Abisoye Odesanya is optimistic of attracting government attention towards necessary social amenities to fast track the growth and development of the area.

He said that he has initiated moves to seek the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in fulfilling his promise and dream to change the entire landscape of Otto.

Oba Bashir Abisoye Odesanya stated these in an interview at the Palace in Otto while looking back at one year anniversary on the throne of his Ancestors.

He said Otto with a population of over 5,000 covering Ijora, LAWMA yard and Sawdust urgently deserves government attention in the areas of good road networks. The Royal father said this is because Otto is located at the centre and that people can connects other areas in the state from Otto.

According to him and i quote” We need to have entrance and exit to Otto. At the moment it is only one road that leads into the area. Otto has huge potentials and it will open up the economy of the area if well developed. We also need more schools including Secondary as there is only one primary school in the area for now. The school is called Otto primary school. Standard primary Health care centre is also needed to attend to basic health needs of my people.” End of quote.

The Royal father continued saying that the jurisdiction of Otto is extended to Ilaje in the history of Mainland. He described the Traditional authority in Otto as the father to all within Lagos Mainland.

Oba Bashir Odesanya stressed the need for immediate Government intervention in the redevelopment of Shanties located within Otto adding that they constitute security threats to lives and properties of law abiding residents of the area.

Another area of concern to the Royal father is the provision of potable water and hygienic environment for the residents. He said that since health is wealth and water if life, availability of both will surely improve the living standards of his subject.

Looking back before he ascended the throne of his Ancestors in November 2022, Oba Bashir Odesanya disclosed that there were lot of challenges in Otto including recurring communal clashes which made the area very volatile for years but now laid to rest due to his intervention and support from his Ancestors.

The Royal father thanked God for the opportunity and the success recorded in the journey so far. He also offered special thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for their supports in all ramification.

Oba Bashir Odesanya who could not hide his joy also thanked his immediate family members for their perseverance and understanding. According to him and i quote” I first thank God for the opportunity given to me. With the abundant success of the journey so far is to thank President Tinubu and his wife, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for their continued supports whenever i reach out to them. My family too, wife and children have been very supportive by their understanding”. End of quote.

His Majesty also thanked his parents for playing important roles in his life.

Speaking further and i quote” My father took me to the adopted father, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu some years back and that gave me most of the abundant opportunities i enjoyed today in life. Asiwaju is the pathfinder and root to my succes in life. The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinunu too contributed immensely in this regards”. End of quote.

While speaking on his political career, the Oloto of Otto and Mainland Kingdom noted that he was elected into rhe Lagos State House of Assembly between 2011-2015 where he represented Lagos Mainland Constituency 1 then. However, efforts to return to the House of Assembly for second term proved abortive.

Thereafter, the First Lady then as a Senator appointed me as a Special Adviser adding he was able to pick up quickly from there.

While given further insight into the territory under his jurisdiction, the Oloto of Oto and Mainland Kingdom noted that this cut across the whole of Mainland from Iddo.

Oba Bashir Abisoye Odesanya solicited full cooperation of his subject towards peaceful coexistence in order to attract both government and the private sector to provide them with basic social amenities.
