LASBCA reseals 8 buildings over contraventions in Ikota, Eti-Osa axis
…warn against breaking of government seal
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has resealed eight buildings across estates in Ikota area of Eti-Osa, Lagos.
The enforcement action was prompted by the persistent violation of state building code and breaking of government seals by property owners and developers.
The agency had previously issued various notices, including Contravention Notice, Stop Work Notice, Seal Up Notice, and Demolition Notice, to the concerned property owners.
The General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki reacting to the resealling exercises expressed his dissatisfaction with property owners and developers who flout the state’s building codes.
Speaking from his office in Ikeja, Arc. Oki emphasis the importance of adherence to building regulations to ensure the structural integrity and safety of buildings in the state.
Arc. Oki highlighted that contraventions identified by the agency in the estates ranged from unauthorized construction activities to deviations from approved building plans.
He noted that such violations pose serious risks to occupants and neighboring structures, necessitating decisive action by the agency.
Arc. Oki, reiterated that the sealing of the eight buildings serves as a strong deterrent and a clear message to developers and builders that non-compliance to building regulations will not be tolerated. “We are commitment to maintaining high standards in construction aligns with the broader goal of creating a safe and resilient urban environment”. He said.
He disclosed that LASBCA will strives to uphold the rule of law and protect the public, property owners and developers against building collapse in the State.
He urged all stakeholders in the built industry to collaborate with regulatory authorities by not only complying with building regulations but ensures the safety of building structures which will at the end contributes to the overall urban development and aesthetics of Lagos State.
