JUST IN: Supreme Court Turns Down PDP’s Appeal For Imo Gov’s Removal
The Supreme Court has dismissed an application brought before it by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 Imo election, Emeka Ihedioha, seeking disqualification of the State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, and withdrawal of certificate of return and handed it over to him.
The court stated that the dismissal was made after a thorough review of the suit and discovered that the application lacked merit and should not have been filed by the PDP candidate’s counsel.
In the ruling delivered on Tuesday, the supreme court described the suit filed by the opposition party candidate as unnecessary and vexatious.
Aside from that, the apex court, in the ruling read by Justice Tijjani Abubakar, slammed N40 million fine against Ihedioha’s counsel, Mike Ozekhome, for bringing the matter before the court.
