President Oke Odo High School Old Students Association, Adenekan describes year 2023 as very challenging for Nigerians


It was an atmosphere of joy and nostalgia when the old Students of Oke Odo High school, Ebute Metta converged on the prestigious Lagos Country Club, Ikeja in celebration of another end of the year party.

The forum provided a platform for what could be described as a family reunion of sort among old students of the school from various sets which spanned thirty five years and below.

A life band and varieties of delicacies added glamour and style to the event.

In his welcome address at the event, the President of Oke Odo High School Old Students Association, OHSOSA, Alhaji Idowu Adenekan described the year 2023 as very challenging for Nigerians ranging from the resultant effects of naira swap and the fuel subsidy removal.

He made reference to the alarming security threats to lives and property of Nigerians while equating the nation’s economy like been in the Intensive Care Unit.

Alhaji Adenekan however commended members of the group for their resilience and steadfastness in supporting all activities of OHSOSA financially and morally including the end of the year party.

According to him, the commissioning of the Ultra modern building of Oke Odo Junior High School, Ebute Metta by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was indeed a memorable day and great achievement for the association and the school.

The OHSOSA President listed some of the interventions in the school which includes; Sponsorship of Annual Prize Giving day/Career Talk, provision of school uniform and sandals to the less privileged, provision of Photocopy machine to the school and discussion with the Lagos House of Assembly and the Ministry of Education for the re-introduction of Oke Odo Senior High School.

Alhaji Adenekan thanked all Past Presidents, Executives as well as the current leadership along with the planning committee for the end of the year party for organising a befitting event.

Concluding his speech, he urged members of various sets who have seen the benefits of the association to encourage others yet to see the need to belong to alma mater to do so.

Also speaking, the Chairman Planning Committee, Pastor Adeniyi Adepoju was full of thanks for the financial support received far and near towards the success of the programme.

He prayed that God in His mercy will ensure safety of lives of members and their families to witness more of the event.
