S’West is doomed If, they fail to support Tinubu–Ex PDP Chair, Salvador
A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Moshood Adegoke Salvador has advised the South Western region of the country to give their maximum support to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said the region would be doomed for life if they fail to give the President the needed support.
Salvador who was a member of the 2014 National Conference made this known in Lagos during an interactive session he had with a group of media professionals known as the League of Yoruba Media Practitioners (LYMP), in Lagos.
He said all stakeholders in the region should set aside their political parties affiliation and support Tinubu for the progress of the region and Nigeria.
Salvador said currently, he has quit partisan politics and all that he cares for now is the progress of Southwest and Nigeria.
The former politician said the emergence of Tinubu as president from the southwest region could not be compared with how ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo emerged during his reign.
He said Obasanjo was a product of the military, imposed on Nigeria and the southwest by the power brokers and northerners.
According to him, this is the best opportunity the South West have had so far in the Nigeria project, since independence, so the Yorubas should rally round their own to give him the needed support.
“Although President Olusegun Obasanjo who governed from 1993 till 2007 is from the region, yet he cannot be described as the true representation of the region. He was actually foisted on us by the military.
“Since Papa Obafemi Awolowo and Chief MKO Abiola could not achieve it, our best bet is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and he deserves all the support.
“I am not interested in any party, whether you are APC, PDP, or Labour Party, that is just a vehicle, but the important thing now is that the Yoruba man is there, he will do what we have been agitating for over the years, and he has the capacity to do it”, he said.
While reacting to the comments made by Femi Falana that the President should not allow any Tom, Dick and Harry near the villa, Salvador said, what Falana is saying is correct, but at the same time, Tinubu needs all the support and backup from everyone he in the South West.
Commenting on the choice of government of national unity, Salvador also said, the idea is good, but the South West must enjoy the moment that their son is a President.
“Let me also advise the agitators to be very smart and wise, we don’t need any agitation now. If Tinubu let out his plans before the elections, he may not get to where he is today, he won’t even smell the crown, but he kept everything to his chest. That is what I want the agitators to also learn, let us be wise in what we are asking for, gradually we will get it”, he added.
On agitation by traditional ruler seeking for constitutional role, Salvador said there was nothing wrong if traditional rulers in the country were given constitutional roles, held that Tinubu’s success story in Lagos State could not be complete without mentioning the contribution of traditional rulers in the state.
