Nwokolo Emerges OHSOSA President, Promises All-Inclusive, Transparent Administration
Mrs. Iyabode Blessing Nwokolo has emerged the new President of the Oke-Odo High School, Ebute-Metta, Old Students Association (OHSOSA).
Nwokolo was declared winner by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Isiaka Mukadaz, after polling 82 votes to defeat her opponent, Kuburat Ayinde, who scored 25 votes at the September Congress of the old students association held at Olisa Shobowale Avenue, Hiltop Estate, Ikorodu, Lagos.
According to the Electoral Committee Chairman, who jointly presented the certificates of return to the newly elected executives alongside the immediate past President, Alhaji Salami Bello, 107 members were accredited to vote, with seven casting their ballots online.
In her acceptance speech, Nwokolo promised to run a transparent and all-inclusive administration where no one would be left behind.
She also assured members that she would take OHSOSA to greater heights while pledging not to betray the trust reposed in her.
The immediate past President, Alhaji Salami Bello, commended the peaceful conduct of the election and urged members to support the new executive in delivering on their campaign promises.
He noted that the election was conducted to produce leaders to pilot the affairs of the association, advising the new executive that their first assignment should be to ensure the return of Oke-Odo Senior High School.
Salami, who handed over all the documents of the association to the newly elected President, told the gathering that over ₦5 million was left in the coffers of the association by his administration.
On his part, Chief Victor Ezeoke, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OHSOSA, said he was happy to see the group increasing in number and commended the detailed handover note from the outgoing administration.
He urged members to participate actively in all the activities of the association for its overall good.
An elder in the association, Deji Ereosun, said the gathering should not be about elections alone, but should also encourage members to attend meetings regularly. He added that the group should remain one family regardless of the outcome of the election.
A former President of the association, Alhaji Adenekan Idowu, expressed hope that the woman-led executive would surpass the achievements recorded by the outgoing administration and take the group to the next level.
In her contribution, Mrs. Folashade Obembe-Ajenifuja solicited members’ support for the new President and the entire executive towards sustaining the tradition and achieving the vision of the group.

Prayers were offered for economic prosperity and the continued protection of all members, while a minute of silence was observed in honour of the late Alhaji Ganiyu Daramola, who died recently.
