NEWS CENTRAL sacks over 50 staff without notice, pays one month salary
The management of the Newscentral TV a fast rising pan African station on DSTV 422 has sacked over 50 staff without notice.
It was reported that, the Head of HR zainab Obaro sent a message to the office WhatsApp platform on Sunday 29th asking all staff to come to the office on Monday compulsory.
The staff who started their normal day without knowing what was the offing, started receiving their letters by the HR one after the other, as they were being summoned to the conference room and were given 15mins to leave the premises
The letter of Termination which was sighted by our correspondent did not show or state any tangible reason for the exercise except for one month salary paid to the affected staff
The exercise which was led by Kayode Akintenmi who resumed as Managing Director 3 months ago is said at aiming to cut costs, as he was heard severally boasting of sacking staff since his resumption in August, even though he is still the ED of Arise TV
Some of the affected staff whom have been in the organisation for a long time could not believe the unexpected decision from the Management.
” I was treated like a criminal after working judiciously for the organisation for over two years, this is unfair.”
Another said and i quote “We were being witch hunted by Akintenmi and Uzonna, God will judge them.”
