CELEBRATING ROTIMI OLATUNJI WILLIAMS- AFRICAN GLOBAL MEDIA ENCYCLOPEDIA
Recently, the Ist African Leadership submit held in Accra , between October 8-10, this year conferred on Prof Rotimi Williams Olatunji the African Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership within the communication industry, exceptional.commitment, and significant contribution to the advancement of Africa.
This award is another feather to the already full cap of Professor Olatunj. Since his resumption as a staff of the Faculty, Olatunji have demonstrated exemplary leadership and inspired meaningful progress within Nigeria and In Africa.
Over the years, Olatunji has proved beyond doubts to be a resilient, restless and thorough in his research, teaching and community services.He is a thorough bred lecturer of Undergraduates and various Postgraduate programmes at the Department of Public Relation and Advertising, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Lagos State University.
Aside being one of the patriarchs of the faculty, he remains one of the longest reigning Dean (2014-2021).His tenure witnessed the relocation of the Faculty from its old building in 21,Nathan Street, to the main campus in Ojo, Lagos .
He was also in at various times, the acting Head of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, the sub- Dean of the faculty as well as the member / Chairman of various committees in the university.
The faculty has continued to enjoy tremendous growth in the area of academic, teaching, Studios facilities and research from his outstanding input.Olatunji has also supervised uncountable number of B.sc , Msc and PhD thesis.
Presently, he is the substantive President of Academic Scholars and Professional Association.( ACSPN). This body provides a rare platform for both academic and Practitioners to rub mind on latest trends in global industry with a view to strengthening the teaching of Communication and media Studies.
This body now has various chapters in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeri.He is also a prominent member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (CIMN) which he collaborated with in 2025 to hold an Annual conference at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
Olatunji is a man of vision, integrity and positive impact.He has demonstrated this traits countless times through his daily relations with colleagues and others in the Lagos State University and outside.He is also a mentor and inspiration to both academic and non – academic.
