The Executive Chairman of Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area, Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nationβs security agencies for the successful rescue of the teachers and pupils abducted by terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the development as a victory for humanity and a source of renewed hope for Nigerians.
Hon. Akindele stated that as a mother, grandmother, former school principal, and professional teacher, she deeply understood the emotional trauma, uncertainty, and anguish experienced by the abducted victims and their families throughout the over 50-day ordeal.
She noted that beyond the physical captivity, the incident subjected parents, guardians, teachers, and entire communities to unimaginable pain, anxiety, and sleepless nights.
The Mosan Okunola LCDA council chairman said the successful operation carried out by the military and other security agencies demonstrated that coordinated efforts and resolute commitment could overcome criminal elements threatening the nationβs peace.
She particularly applauded President Tinubu for his resolve, strategic leadership, and determination to ensure that the victims were brought home safely, while also praising the Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, police, and other security operatives whose professionalism made the rescue possible.
Recalling the 2026 Childrenβs Day celebration, Hon. Akindele disclosed that one of her heartfelt prayers was for the safe return of the abducted children and their teachers.
βI remember praying fervently during this yearβs Childrenβs Day celebration that God should preserve the lives of the innocent children and their teachers and reunite them with their families. Today, my heart is filled with gratitude because God has answered those prayers. This rescue is indeed a moment of thanksgiving for the entire nation,β she said.
While celebrating the joyful reunion of the rescued victims with their loved ones, she expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of Mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, who was brutally murdered by the abductors during the period of captivity.
She prayed that Almighty God would grant the late educator eternal rest, comfort his family, strengthen his colleagues, and heal everyone affected by the unfortunate tragedy.
She further urged Nigerians to continue supporting the nationβs security architecture through timely intelligence sharing, vigilance, and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility.
The council chairman also called on government at all levels to sustain investments in intelligence gathering, modern security equipment, and personnel welfare to strengthen the countryβs capacity to respond swiftly to security threats, particularly those targeting schools and vulnerable communities.
Hon. Akindele prayed that God would continue to protect Nigerian children, teachers, and every citizen from acts of violence, while asking for lasting peace, safety, and stability across the country.
