RAMADAN 2026: Lagos Assembly Muslim Community Amir Preaches Peace, Generosity; Applauds Obasa, Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Others

The Amir/Lead Imam of the Lagos State House of Assembly Muslim Community, Abdushshakur Adeleke Osoala, has called on Muslims to embrace peaceful coexistence, deepen acts of charity, and strengthen their relationship with Allah during the holy month of Ramadan.

In a press statement released on Thursday, Imam Osoala described Ramadan as a sacred period of reflection, sacrifice, compassion, and renewed commitment to righteous living. He urged Muslim faithful within and outside the Lagos State House of Assembly to use the season to promote unity, extend kindness to the less privileged, and foster harmonious relationships across religious and ethnic divides.

According to him, “Ramadan is not only a period of fasting from food and drink, but also a time to purify the soul, cultivate patience, promote peace, and extend generous hands to those in need. It is a month that teaches us self-discipline, love, and the importance of peaceful coexistence in our society.”

The Amir emphasized the need for Muslims to intensify prayers for the continued peace, progress, and stability of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. He noted that acts of giving—whether through Zakat, Sadaqah, or simple gestures of kindness—remain central to the spiritual rewards of the holy month.

Imam Osoala expressed profound appreciation to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, for his unwavering support and consistent encouragement of the Muslim community within the Assembly. He commended the Speaker for fostering an atmosphere of religious harmony and inclusiveness, which has enabled the Muslim community to observe its religious obligations without hindrance.

He thereafter extended his warm Ramadan greetings to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, praying that Almighty Allah grants him good health, divine wisdom, and the fulfillment of all his heart’s desires as he continues to steer the affairs of the nation.

The Amir further offered special prayers for the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, and the Head of Service, asking Almighty Allah to grant them wisdom, strength, and good health in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He also extended his gratitude to the Principal Officers, Honourable Members of the House, and the Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko, for their cooperation, moral support, and commitment to promoting unity within the legislative arm of government.

Imam Osoala prayed for divine guidance upon all Muslim faithful in the Lagos State House of Assembly and across the state, urging them to remain steadfast in faith and exemplary in conduct.

He concluded by encouraging the Muslim community to sustain the virtues of Ramadan beyond the fasting period, stressing that true piety is reflected in continuous good deeds, peaceful living, and unwavering devotion to Allah.
