Re: “Tinubu Making Merry in Plateau Despite People’s Pain and Suffering” — Lagos APC Lambasts Atiku
Atiku’s Hypocrisy on Display Again: Tinubu’s Leadership Cannot Be Lectured by a Serial Election Loser
The attention of the Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to yet another uninformed and mischievous statement credited to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of “making merry” in Plateau State while the nation grapples with security challenges.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored the habitual rant of a frustrated politician still nursing the wounds of serial electoral defeats, but for the need to correct the deliberate mischief being peddled by a man who has long lost touch with national reality.
President Tinubu’s visit to Plateau State was a show of compassion and solidarity – a mark of respect to a distinguished Nigerian family in grief and a reaffirmation of our shared humanity. Only a man blinded by bitterness and political envy would seek to twist such a solemn event for cheap propaganda.
Atiku’s statement betrays not just poor judgment but also moral bankruptcy. This is the same man who, during his years in public office, looked away as insecurity festered under his own party’s misrule. His PDP government laid the foundation for today’s security challenges by institutionalising corruption, destroying the economy, and undermining the capacity of our armed forces.
Unlike the PDP’s era of indifference, President Tinubu has demonstrated proactive leadership – strengthening security institutions, prioritising intelligence-driven operations, and ensuring unprecedented collaboration between the military and other security agencies. Concrete results are being recorded nationwide, and Nigerians can attest to the steady return of peace in previously troubled zones.
Atiku’s rapid and consistent descent into a political laughing stock is pitiable. His handlers will do well to salvage whatever remains of his reputation before it completely evaporates. He is a classic case of not how long but how well – a sobering lesson for budding politicians who mistake longevity for relevance. Atiku ought not to take his frustration to such a ridiculous level.
It is laughable that Atiku, who hops from one political platform to another in his unending and fruitless quest for power, now attempts to lecture a performing President on empathy and governance. Nigerians have long rejected his brand of opportunistic politics rooted in deceit and desperation.
President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare and security of Nigerians is total and unshakable. No amount of reckless politicking or bad-faith commentary from yesterday’s men can diminish that fact.
We advise Atiku to focus on enjoying his forced retirement from politics and reflect on how he squandered multiple chances to serve the nation meaningfully, rather than throwing stones at a leader who is working tirelessly to rebuild what his party destroyed.
