Lagos APC Dismisses INEC’s Recognition of ADC Leadership as Hollow Victory

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the recent recognition of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) leadership by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as “a hollow victory built on questionable processes.”

In a statement issued on Friday, September 12, 2025, by its spokesman, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC congratulated the newly recognised ADC leadership but cautioned that the legitimacy granted by INEC should not be a licence for lawlessness.

“What INEC has done is to place a legal stamp on a house built on sand,” the party declared, while urging the ADC to embrace transparency, principle, and credible opposition politics instead of “manipulation, propaganda, and excuses.”

The ruling party also reminded the ADC and other opposition groups of INEC’s warning against premature campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to the APC, jumping the gun not only undermines fair competition but also reflects desperation and disregard for due process.

“While the APC builds roads, rails, power infrastructure, and economic reforms that create a future, the ADC builds excuses, issues press statements, and thrives on empty noise. Nigerians deserve better from any party that claims to be a national platform,” Oladejo stated.

The Lagos APC further charged the ADC to avoid heating up the polity unnecessarily and instead channel its energy into issue-based politics and constructive engagement.

Reaffirming its commitment to democratic order under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC vowed to meet all contenders at the polls in 2027 within the framework of the law.

Oladejo added: “If the ADC cannot first win councillorship seats or demonstrate grassroots relevance, it is laughable to dream of the presidency. As our people wisely say: ‘No one climbs a tree from the top.’
