Lagos APC Hails Okonjo-Iweala’s Endorsement of Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded recent remarks by World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for stabilising Nigeria’s economy.
Okonjo-Iweala, a former Minister of Finance and globally respected economist, recently stated that the Tinubu administration had brought stability to the nation’s economy. The Lagos APC described her comments as a truthful reflection of the positive impact of the president’s bold reforms.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo, the party noted that President Tinubu’s economic policies — including the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the exchange rate, and wide-ranging fiscal and monetary reforms — were tough but essential decisions.
“These choices were not politically convenient, but they were economically necessary,” the statement read. “We are beginning to see results: a stabilised naira with reduced volatility, increased investor confidence, gradual easing of inflation, and renewed commitments to infrastructure, agriculture, and manufacturing.”
The Lagos APC said these achievements validate the confidence Nigerians placed in Tinubu during the 2023 elections and reflect his vision, courage, and commitment to national rebirth.
Oladejo further praised Okonjo-Iweala for her constructive and non-partisan appraisal, stating that her words “cut through the noise of political criticism and affirm what many Nigerians are starting to feel — that there is a plan, a direction, and hope.”
Calling for continued patience and resilience, the APC urged Nigerians to rally behind the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda, expressing optimism that the country would achieve inclusive growth, enhanced security, and social development.
The statement concluded with a firm declaration of the Lagos APC’s support for Tinubu:
“We remain proud of the administration and reiterate our full backing as the president delivers on his mandate to rebuild and reposition Nigeria for greatness.”
