Breaking News: Peaceful Protest Over Minimum Wage and Oracle Integration Grounds Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation

…NLC Assures Workers of Victory Amid Paralysis of Activities

Activities within the premises of the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation in Agidingbi, Ikeja, have been paralyzed due to a peaceful protest embarked upon by the workers.

Workers of the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation, which includes Lagos Television, Radio Lagos/EKO FM, and Lagos Traffic Radio, stated that the peaceful protest was to demand the payment of the new minimum wage and their integration into the Oracle Database system.

Many aggrieved workers, displaying various placards, lamented that it has become extremely difficult for them to perform their duties without a pay rise, especially given the current economic realities.

The Chairman of the state chapter of the NLC, Comrade Agnes Sessy, who addressed the workers and journalists during the protest, emphasized that there was no justification for denying them payment of the new minimum wage since they were lawfully engaged by the state government.

She also noted that there should be no discrimination in the treatment of staff at the Lagos State Broadcasting Corporation, as most of them were seconded from the state Ministry of Information.

Comrade Sessy commended the large turnout of members of the corporation, stating that workers sometimes have to demand their rights when they are not freely given.

She further assured the workers that victory on their demands was near, as their case was lawful, justified, and constitutional.
