Senator Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule hosts 2024 end-of-year food distribution for constituents
SPEECH DELIVERED BY SENATOR DR. IDIAT OLURANTI ADEBULE AT THE 2024 END-OF-YEAR SHARING OF FOOD GIFTS TO CONSTITUENTS ON 22ND DECEMBER, 2024 AT THE LAGOS-WEST CONSTITUENCY OFFICE PAVILLION, IKEJA, LAGOS.
It is with great joy and a deep sense of gratitude to God that I stand before you today to acknowledge the goodness of God in our lives in seeing us through a highly challenging but fulfilling 2024. We have all worked hard from the beginning of the year and we are looking forward to having a blissful time with our families and friends during this holliday. This is therefore, an auspicious time to spread little goodness, love, and compassion to our people in the form of about One Thousand Two Hundred (1200) bags of rice as a token of appreciation for your support.
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, today’s event will mark the third time we are distributing rice as End-of-Year goodness to constituent families in order to make the yuletide enjoyable for the good people of Lagos-West Senatorial District. I therefore, urge all the beneficiaries to ensure the largesse is shared with family and friends so that happiness can be spread to all and sundry during this period.
At this juncture, it is important to acknowledge our hard working, compassionate, performing and listening leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), who has consistently supported members of the National Assembly as representatives of the people in reaching out Nigerians through the distribution of food palliatives as part of ways and means to cushion the effect of the high cost of living occasioned by the difficult but necessary economic reforms embarked upon by Government to rescue our country from the path of unsustainable economic policies of the past. I therefore, urge all Nigerians to support our President and the Government to deliver stability, peace and sustainable prosperity to our nation. The worst is over and we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Permit me to also appreciate the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda for taking out time to be with us in Lagos-West for today’s event. You have also demonstrated commitment to the welfare of our people.
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, as the year 2024 draws close to an end, we should remind ourselves of the many challenges and triumphs we have experienced individually and collectively as Nigerians, especially the people of Lagos-West, the largest Senatorial District in Nigeria in terms of human population and number of polling units. These attributes of Lagos-West have made it even more challenging to satisfy the needs of our people, but to the glory of God, we have taken the bull by its horns and delivered the goodies to a sizeable number of our people.
Recently, we delivered entrepreneurial training with starter empowerment packages, including tools and fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00) to One Thousand youths and women; we have in the past distributed thousands of bags of rice to constituents for the benefit of their families during major nationwide celebrations; we have also distributed food packs as palliatives to more than ten thousand constituents, and in all of these, the physically challenged community as well as the elderly have been carried along. We have also sustained scholarship scheme over the years for indigent Lagos State students at the Lagos State University (LASU) which started before I was elected a Senator. We also have on-going capital projects such as the construction of block of classrooms at Community Primary School, Oshodi; there is also the construction of Skills Acquisition Centre at Adeleye Primary School, Mushin; the construction of Market Stalls at Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA is in progress; as well as the completion/construction of a Youth Centre in Badagry. There are others that contractors are set to move to site in some LGAS/LCDAs. These and many other initiatives have been done in less than two years of being sworn-in as a Senator and I am willing and determined to do more even in the face of daunting population size and number of LGAs/LCDAs to cover. With your support and encouragement, I believe we will go far.
In conclusion, I wish to restate my commitment to the peace, prosperity and wellbeing of the good people of Lagos-West and that this kind of programmes is only to demonstrate my appreciation of your invaluable and unwavering support in serving you as a Senator, and I remain dedicated to our shared aspirations as a people. Please accept this token of love from me to you and your families in the spirit of the season.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the political and community leaders in attendance, beneficiaries and supporters as well as volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of this event. Your support and dedication is highly appreciated.
I wish you all happy and wonderful holidays and a peaceful, prosperous, and joyful year 2025 in advance.
Thank you all for your time.
Her Excellency, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule, (Ph.D.)
Lagos-West Senatorial District.
