IFELODUN LCDA DISBURSES MONTHLY CASH SUPPORT AND FOOD PALLIATIVES TO 3,300 RESIDENTS
The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, Mayor Dr. Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, today led the monthly disbursement of cash support and distribution of food palliatives to residents of the council.
The event, held at the council secretariat, is part of the administration’s continuous welfare program that has been sustained monthly since 2021.

A total of 3,300 residents benefited from today’s intervention across three categories:
1. *Petty Traders Support*: 100 petty traders received #100,000 each to boost their businesses.
2. *Youth Support*: 700 youths received #10,000 each as empowerment support.
3. *Aged Support*: 500 elderly residents received #10,000 each as social welfare assistance.
In addition, *2,500 residents* received food palliatives to cushion the effect of the current economic realities.
Mayor Dr. Okeowo recalled that when the program commenced in 2021, petty traders received an initial disbursement of #50,000. He announced that the amount has now been doubled to #100,000 since to enable traders to expand their trades and improve their livelihoods.

“This administration understands the challenges faced by small business owners. That is why we reviewed the traders’ grant upwards. We want our people to trade with dignity and grow their businesses,” he said. Beneficiaries of this gesture were picked at random without having any affiliation or connection whatsoever before they were picked.
The Chairman assured residents that the monthly support program will be sustained throughout his tenure.
He attributed the sustenance and expansion of the program to increased federal allocation to local governments.
“The Federal Government under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has increased allocation to local governments. Therefore, there is no excuse for us not to spend it directly on the people. That is what this program represents,” Mayor Okeowo stated.

He expressed appreciation to Mr. President for the increased allocation and to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, for his continuous support and commitment to the wellbeing of residents across Lagos State, including Ifelodun LCDA.
He emphasized that putting smiles on the faces of residents remains a key priority of his administration.
Beneficiaries expressed joy and appreciation to the Okeowo-led administration for the consistent support. Traders, youths, and the aged described the monthly intervention as a timely relief that has helped many families.
They prayed for the continued success of the Chairman and pledged to use the funds judiciously for the purpose intended.
Since 2021, the monthly cash support and food palliative program has reached thousands of households in Ifelodun LCDA. The administration reiterated its commitment to inclusive governance, social protection, and poverty alleviation for all categories of residents.
