Lagos Agog As Media Icon, Abdulbaqee Yemisi-Coker Turns 70
It was an exciting atmosphere when family, friends and associates gathered at the prestigious Yoruba Tennis Club on King George Way, Onikan, Lagos to celebrate an illustrious son, Alhaji Abdulbaqee Yemisi-Coker on the occassion of milestones 70th Birthday.
The glamorous birthday celebration provided a platform for the common cliché, Eko for Show to take centre stage as guests appeared in different shades of colorful purple attires.
Among the personalities that graced the occassion includes the Chairman of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, a federal lawmaker, Hon. Dolapo Badru, Deputy chairman of Lagos APC, Moshood Mayegun, former State Commissioner for Rural Development & Infrastructure, Olanrewaju Saka Shenayon, the White Cap Chiefs and religious leaders.
During a toast to the celebrant, one of his children, Mr. Biodun Coker expressed profound gratitude to him for given them quality education, sound moral upbringing and being there for them all through.
He also described him as a man of high integrity, advocate for justice, philanthropist and unwavering commitment to the truth at all times.
Alhaji Abdulbaqee Yemisi-Coker was born on the 25th June 1956 into the distinguished family of Pa Richmond Idowu Olawunmi Coker and Alhaja Sidikat Abeke Coker. His early years was marked by a strong educational foundation where he attended St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos before proceeding to Birch Freeman High School, Lagos and later Eyini High School, Ibadan where he completed his secondary education. He further enroled at the Lagos State University, LASU where he obtained a Diploma in Communication Arts.
Alhaji Abdulbaqee Yemisi-Coker through his immense contributions to Islam and Community development was bestowed with several titles including; Kaakaki Adinni of Lagos, Baba Adinni of Alagbayun Mosque, Bobaselu of Shasha and Baba Jamah of As-Abul Janat.
