FG Committed to Reviving Education Sector β€” Alausa Assures as Rep. Wale Raji Commissions Projects in Epe Schools

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has reaffirmed the readiness of the Federal Government to do everything possible to revive and reposition Nigeria’s education sector.

He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would welcome all initiatives aimed at strengthening human capital development and improving social infrastructure to enhance the sector’s growth.

Dr. Alausa made this known in Epe, Lagos State, during the commissioning of multiple projects executed at Epe Grammar School and Temu Community Secondary School by the member representing Epe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Wale Raji.

According to the Minister, every Nigerian child must have access to a safe and conducive learning environment, stressing that achieving this goal is a collective responsibility of government and society.

He disclosed that the education sector received one of the highest budgetary allocations in the nation’s history under the Tinubu administration, and charged students to utilize the newly commissioned projects effectively and judiciously.

Dr. Alausa, who is also an indigene of Epe, noted that the area continues to blossom through the combined efforts of eminent and committed personalities it has produced over the years.

He described the intervention by Hon. Wale Raji as significant, adding that the lawmaker has distinguished himself through impactful service delivery to the people of Epe.

Speaking earlier, Hon. Wale Raji explained that the projects executed at Epe Grammar School were designed to strengthen the institutions and secure a brighter future for the people of the area.

He noted that the Minister’s presence at the event demonstrated strong commitment to the education sector, while commending the recent breakthrough in the signing of a new agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Hon. Raji stressed that his interventions align with his constitutional responsibility to provide for the welfare and security of the people, in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, said he was delighted to witness the handover of the projects, noting that education thrives on partnerships to guarantee access to quality learning.

He added that the education sector has enjoyed unprecedented support from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, particularly as the third pillar of the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.

Former First Lady of Lagos State, Lady Doja Otedola, described Hon. Wale Raji as the best member of the House of Representatives ever produced by Epe, citing his track record in infrastructural development for his constituents.

She thanked him for being an active and effective legislator, while also commending the Minister for scholarships awarded to students from Epe.

At the event, the female hostel was named after the former First Lady, Lady Doja Otedola, while the male hostel was named after GAC member, Alhaji Bamu. The refurbished male hostel was also dedicated in honour of the late Femi Agbalajobi.

In a novelty football match at the stadium, Team Alausa, in black jerseys, lost 5–4 on penalties to Team Raji, in blue jerseys, after regulation time.

The Minister donated ₦1.5 million to the winning team and ₦1 million to the runners-up, as well as to match officials.

Dignitaries at the event included former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji; former Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Bode Oyedele; council chairmen from Epe; members of the Lagos State APC executive; religious leaders; traditional rulers; and old students of Epe Grammar School.
