It was a moment of pride and celebration as brilliant students from Eti-Osa Local Government dazzled at the recently held Spelling Bee competition hosted at the council secretariat.
The event, which brought together pupils and students from 20 schools — including nine public primary schools and eleven senior secondary schools — showcased exceptional talent, confidence, and intellectual brilliance.
After a fiercely contested round of spellings, Sanni Amira of Jamatul Islamiyah Primary Schoolemerged winner in the primary category, while Igbinedion Dara of Agbara Community Senior Secondary School clinched the top spot in the senior category.
Other winners in the primary section include Cicilia Moses of Ilasan Primary School (2nd place) and Ummi Jordan of Ikota Primary School (3rd place). In the senior category, Olabode Mercy Eyinjuoluwaof Ilasan Senior Secondary School came second, while Bassey Favour Essien of Agbara Community Senior Secondary School took third place.
Executive Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, Omo’ba Adeola Alimot Adetoro, congratulated all participants, noting that the competition was aimed at nurturing academic excellence and building confidence among young learners. She also presented prizes to winners of a pre-contest spelling exercise.
Adetoro urged the overall winners to represent Eti-Osa Local Government with pride at the state level and bring home more laurels.
The event ended on a high note, with renewed calls for greater investment in education and youth development across Eti-Osa.
