We Run an Open Door Policy in LAHASCOM — Hadjia Omowunmi Ogbara, Acting Chairman

The Acting Chairman of the Lagos State Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM), Hadjia Omowunmi Ogbara, has stated that the institution operates an open-door policy to encourage a free flow of ideas among all members of the Commission.

She made this known during the recent working visit of the Ogun State Assembly Service Commission to LAHASCOM.

The delegation was led by the former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and current Chairman of the Commission, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi.

Ogbara reiterated that the Commissioners of LAHASCOM attained their positions through political processes, having previously contested for various positions.

She noted that they continue to enjoy a cordial relationship with their leaders, especially the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

As the first female Acting Chairman of LAHASCOM, Ogbara emphasized her commitment to teamwork. “I practice teamwork here.

I don’t do anything without the consent, knowledge, and collaboration of my colleagues. Sometimes, I even call them at 1 a.m. or 4 a.m. when I have a new idea — and I thank God they are always there to support me, along with the management and staff of this institution.”

In his keynote address, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi explained that the purpose of their visit was to gain hands-on experience from their Lagos counterparts on how best to improve the operations of the Ogun State Assembly Service Commission.

“We are here to ensure that the Ogun State Assembly Service Commission, if not at the same level as Lagos, will at least have a semblance of what everyone will be proud of at the end of the day,” he said.

Adekunbi further expressed confidence that the visit would significantly reshape their activities back home. “We are here to learn, and we believe we will be better informed at the end of this visit,” he added.

The meeting featured verbal presentations from various directorates and units, as well as an exchange of gifts between both Commissions.
