ADC Will Defeat Tinubu in 2027, Reverse Fuel Subsidy Removal and Naira Float – Senator Felix Ogunwale
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator Felix Ogunwale, has declared that his party is determined to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 election and reverse some of his economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the floating of the naira.
Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made this known during a live programme on Adamimogo 93.1 FM, Lagos.
He vowed that if the ADC is voted into power, petrol would be sold at ₦300 per litre, while the exchange rate would be stabilized at a level “acceptable to all Nigerians.”
The former senator lamented that the policies of the Tinubu administration had inflicted more hardship on citizens, stressing that the President met the naira at ₦700 to the dollar but it now exchanges at over ₦1,500.
Ogunwale controversially argued that Nigeria is wealthy enough to distribute ₦100 million to each of its over 200 million citizens without difficulty, but admitted that corruption remains a major obstacle, as even the youth accuse leaders of mismanagement.
Expressing worry over worsening poverty, he alleged that some Nigerians are now dying of hunger due to policies of the current administration. He added that while a revolution could have been an alternative, it often comes with heavy loss of lives.
On insecurity, Ogunwale recalled the words of late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, who said banditry or terrorism cannot last 24 hours without the backing of those in power. He expressed fears that worsening insecurity could threaten the conduct of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to Zamfara State Governor’s claim that insecurity could end in a few months if granted full support by the federal government, Ogunwale expressed doubts, noting that such authority may never be given to him.
He also warned against Nigeria sliding into a one-party state, following alleged harassment of opposition members by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is “fighting back” because he feels betrayed by President Tinubu.
