New Yaba LCDA Chairman, Dr. Adefuye, Inaugurates Legislative Arm, Unveils Plan to Transform Yaba Into a Mega City
The newly sworn-in Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Bayo Adefuye, has reassured residents of his commitment to a transparent and inclusive administration.
He pledged to run an open-door policy and prioritize developmental projects that will directly benefit the people of the area.
Dr. Adefuye made this known during the official inauguration of members of the legislative arm of the council, held at the council secretariat.
The event was witnessed by party leaders and dignitaries, including the Vice Chairman-elect, Hon. Joseph Babatunde Ojo.
In his address, the council boss expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for granting financial autonomy to local governments, as well as to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and party stakeholders for the opportunity to serve.
Dr. Adefuye also unveiled part of his administration’s vision—to transform Yaba into a modern mega city by fully exploring its tourism potential.
He specifically mentioned plans to showcase and promote areas such as Sabo, Makoko, and Iwaya through annual events that will attract global attention.
In a major political development, Hon. Babatunde Tijani Dosunmu, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following the July 12 elections, was elected as the Leader of the 6th Legislative House. Hon. Onaneye Obafemi emerged as the Majority Leader.
Hon. Dosunmu, who hails from Ward D, Abule Oja, narrowly defeated Hon. Shola Thomas in a keenly contested vote by 5 to 4.
Yaba LCDA comprises nine wards:
