Maritime Media Performance: AMJON Honours Aniemu, Publisher of JournalNG Magazine with Prestigious Award

The Publisher of JournalNG Magazine, Mr. Ismail Aniemu, was honoured by the Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) for his outstanding performance in bridging information gaps among maritime stakeholders through his bi-weekly publication.

The award presentation, which took place in Lagos on Friday, July 17, 2025, during the Annual AMJON Conference, was in recognition of the magazine’s consistency and excellence in providing credible and timely maritime news to industry players.

In the award citation jointly signed by AMJON President, Kelvin Kagbare; Secretary, Segun Oladipupo; and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Paul Ogbuokiri, JournalNG was described as a publication that stands out for its credibility and relevance in the maritime sector.

The trio commended the magazine as a dependable resource and reference point, known for its exceptional content quality and its ability to engage readers with well-researched, insightful articles that resonate with maritime stakeholders.

Its innovative design, visually striking layouts, and cohesive editorial vision—combined with clear, compelling writing and professional editing—were also cited as key reasons for the honour.

During the pre-award citation, Ugo Ezurike, Publisher of Nation Update, praised the magazine’s growing digital innovations, consistent use of illustrations such as entertaining cartoons, multimedia integration, and its remarkable deployment of imagery and infographics to complement its content.

In his response to the honour, Mr. Ismail Aniemu, fondly called “PE” in the maritime arena, described the award as an encouragement to his team’s modest contributions to maritime journalism. He dedicated the recognition to all members of his team for their commitment to journalism as both a profession and a social service aimed at the development of society.
