Nigerian Delegation Joins Ahmadiyya Islamic Conference in London

A Nigerian delegation led by the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, has joined other delegates from around the world at the Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United Kingdom, taking place in Surrey, England.

The Nigerian delegation includes members of the Executive Committee and auxiliary organizations within the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria. Among them are the Head of the Elders Group, Alhaji Dauda Raji; the Chancellor, Comrade Hassan Sunmonu; the Vice Chancellor of Minaret University, Ikirun, Professor Abdullah Abdul Rahman; Professor Mashood Fashola; the former Amir and current External Affairs Secretary; and the traditional leader of Ikirunland, the Eesa of Ikirun, Chief Adeyoyese Kareem Lawal, among others. Journalists from Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and TVC Communications are also part of the delegation.

During the convention, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria will formally present the licence for Minaret University, Ikirun — the first secular university established by the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community — to His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V and worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The Islamic Conference is a unique gathering that attracts over 35,000 participants from more than 90 countries, aiming to increase religious knowledge and promote peace in society.

Eminent speakers will address a variety of religious topics and explore their relevance to contemporary issues. Additionally, a number of parliamentarians, civic leaders, and diplomats from various countries will speak at the gathering, underscoring the convention’s objective of enhancing unity, understanding, and mutual respect.

A special highlight of the convention is the presence of His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who delivers keynote addresses on each of the three days, offering profound insights into Islamic teachings and their guidance for the modern world.

On Sunday, a Bai’at (pledge of allegiance) ceremony will be held, during which participants will renew their commitment to serve Allah (SWT) and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. This will be followed by a closing address by the global head of the community.

Also on Sunday, a Historic Panel Discussion on the Propagation of Islam will be held to examine the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in spreading Islam from London to all corners of the world.

Panelists include Dr. Qasim Akinreti, Lead of the Ahmadiyya History Compilation Committee; Alyas Munir, Head of the Ahmadiyya History Department, Germany; Naseer Dean, Naib Ameer (Deputy Head), Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, UK; Raheel Ahmad, Head of the History Desk, UK; and Yahya Luqman, a missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the United States.

The panelists have all played key roles in compiling the history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community across Nigeria, the USA, Germany, and the UK.
