DAY TWO: UNLOCK TRAINING GETS MORE EXCITING AS DIGNITARIES PAY VISITS, MAKE INPUTS
The second day of the intensive two-week UNLOCK Training programme got more exciting Thursday as government dignitaries paid solidarity visits as well as made inputs to the training, ranging from the importance of skills acquisition to assurances of the Federal Government’s commitment to youth development.
Participation also got a boost as no less than 40 participants undertook the training physically while the online participants increased very significantly with many across the country adding values through useful questions and commendations to the present administration for following through with its promises of massive skills training for Nigerian youths.
One of the early visitors, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Tope Ajaiyi, exhorted the participants on the need for skills acquisition, saying the West is looking towards Africa, including Nigeria, today for young skilled workforce to fill the gap created by their ageing population.
Describing the participants as lucky beneficiaries of one of the many initiatives being rolled out by his counterpart on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (SSAP-TVEE), Madam Abiola Arogundade, in the last ten months, Mr. Ajaiyi, who emphasized on integrity as the core of business, said it is the core value that would ensure business sustainability.
Other dignitaries who visited later were the Minister of State for Youths Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, who assured the participants of Federal Government’s commitment to stabilizing the nation’s economy through skills training, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Social Events, Princess Atika-Ajanah and the Kwara State Commissioner for Youths who commended the SSAP-TVEE for her untiring efforts on TVET training.
The topic of the day centred on components of a Business Plan which, according to the facilitator, Bukola Mayie, include Executive summary of the business, Overview of the business, Marketing analysis and Risks. These topics, however, could not be covered fully due to the inputs of the Senior government officials who in their various remarks, also praised the SSAP-TVEE for her aggressive pursuit of the TVEE agenda.
In her remarks to close the day’s session, the SSAP-TVEE, again expressed delight at the turnout and enthusiasm of participants, both online and physical, describing the development as a booster to government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration. The training continues.
