Oriade LCDA splashes N30m on vulnerable residents, widows to cushion fuel subsidy removal

At least 1000 vulnerable residents of Oriade Local Council Development Area in Lagos State have benefitted from the sum of N25m at N25,000 each from the Council as part of measures to cushion the fuel subsidy removal.

Similarly, fifty widows within the council area also went home with N100,000 each to boost their small-scale businesses, and the son of a late party chieftain killed during the 2021 Local Government electioneering campaign received N1million.

While distributing the money to the beneficiaries at the council, the Chairman, Ramatallahi Akinlola-Hassann, announced that the palliative distribution to the vulnerable within the area will now hold every three months until the end of her tenure.

She explained that the exercise was carried out close to the Yuletide to enable residents to cope with the rising cost of food in order to celebrate the season in good spirits.

Ramatallahi Akinlola-Hassann appealed to all the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the largesse. She stressed that her mission from day one after taking the oath of office was the upliftment of the people of Oriade LCDA.

While assuring that the dividend of democracy will be extended to all residents, she assured those yet to benefit from the poverty alleviation scheme that her administration will take care of their interests in due course.

Most of the beneficiaries, who cut across ages, gender, tribes, and religion, expressed appreciation to the council boss while pledging full support for all her programs and policies.
