Lagos Govt reassures residents of priority attention to food security as Vendors makes huge sales at Lagos Food Festival
The Lagos State Government has reassured that food security will continue to receive priority attention in order to bring down the cost of food items in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave this assurance during this year’s Lagos Food Festival held at the Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr Kadiri Hamzat, the Governor said the state is passionate about boosting the Agric sector reason why it had witnessed several initiative and featured prominently in the THEMES Agenda of the state.
He expressed satisfaction with the massive turn out at the event adding that it demonstrates that Lagos remain the pacesetter to other states when it comes to people oriented programmes.
On her part, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bisola Olusanya discclosed that the forum provides platform for those in the Agric and food sector to showcase the beauty of the state as well as network in order to compliment each other.
Mrs Falilat Oladimeji of the Ejalonibu Fishermen Women and Men Association, Apapa said she was gad about the sales made this year.
Attending the event for the fifth time, she he also noted that the Food Festival provided opportunity for them to enjoy themselves.
She confirmed that the space was given for free while blaming high cost of fish in the state on the rising cost of materials including boat, engine and fishing nets.
Another vendor at Lagos Food Festival that deals in fast foods, Wale Olukunle solicited financial government towards expansion of their business.
Live performances by Adewale Ayuba, 2 Baba added glamour and excitement to the event while former World Guiness Records holder, Chef Hilda Baci was among the Judges during the cooking competition.
