Massive turn out at Community Market organised by Lagos Island East LCDA as residents purchased food items at affordable subsidized rates
It was another massive turn out as residents of Lagos Isalnd East LCDA and environs purchased different food items at the 10th edition of the Community market and Subsidy removal palliatives organised by the council authorities.
Some of the items bought at affordable subsidized rates include: Rice, Beans, Garri, Yam, Live chicken, Oil, Noodles, Dry Fish and Pepper.
Somenof the residents at the events commended the council Chairman, Hon Alade Folawiyo for initiating the program at a time hunger and poverty is rising in the country.
Food Inflation rate is now at 30 6% while normal inflation has risen to 26.4% in the country.
They said that the monthly Community market introduced by the council even long before the federal government began the subsidy program had greatly impacted on their lives.
According to them, the high level of poverty and hunger will reduce in the state and the country at large if other councils nationwide emulate the program
On his part, the council boss, Hon Alade Folawiyo said the programme was in fulfilment of campaign promises to the people.
He said that since government is all about service to the people, he will continue to accord priority to welfare of the people throughoutt his tenure.
The council boss also thanked Governor Sanwoolu for the regular support towards the success of programmes that will benefits those at the grassroots.
