ASGAT Holds Special Hijrah 1448 Prayer Session, Seeks Divine Support for APC’s 2027 Electoral Success
An Islamic political group, the Al-Ulamau Support Group for Tinubu/Shettima (ASGAT), has organised a special prayer session to welcome the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448.

The forum also provided an opportunity for members of the group to pray for the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, particularly in Surulere Federal Constituency II and Lagos State House of Assembly Constituency II.
The candidates are Hon. Lanre Okunlola for the House of Representatives and Barr. Damilola Ayinde Mashal for the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In a brief sermon at the prayer session held at the A Plus Resource Centre on Adefowope Street, Coker-Aguda, Surulere, Imam Abdulganiyu Idris blamed the lingering social unrest and security challenges in the country on a deviation from the injunctions and commandments of Allah.

He, however, lamented that humanity’s decision to abandon Allah’s will comes with consequences, including poverty and a lack of peace of mind.
According to him, those in government must govern with the fear of God and fulfil the promises made to citizens in order to ensure a harmonious and peaceful society.
Imam Idris further stated that the National Assembly must support the Executive for the smooth running of government, adding that Allah created people with different responsibilities and positions.

Quoting from Chapter 16, Verse 112 of the Holy Qur’an, Imam Idris pointed out that no position occupied by an individual is permanent.
Speaking at the event, the National Coordinator of ASGAT, Alhaji Lateef Agboola, expressed optimism about a better turnout in 2027 and urged members not to be discouraged by past events.
He stressed that Muslims must participate actively in politics, noting that it is the only way they can have a voice in governance and benefit from the dividends of democracy.

The ASGAT National Coordinator added that he expects those elected into various offices to implement policies and programmes that entrench good governance in the country.
He also urged members to mobilise their family members and relatives to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the 2027 general elections.
In his response, Ahmed Azeez of the Damilola Campaign Organisation (DAMCO) commended the group’s doggedness in supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress since it was established ahead of the 2023 general elections.

He also assured members that the group would be integrated into the campaign structure of Hon. Damilola Ayinde Mashal and donated campaign souvenirs to ASGAT.
The event concluded with special prayers for the continued good health of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and for the restoration of peace across all parts of the country.
